The first wave of players committing to the WTGL — the LPGA's version of TGL — includes three of the top 6 players in the world and Delray Beach's Lexi Thompson.

LPGA commissioner Craig Kessler and TMRW Sports CEO Mike McCarley announced the formation of the WTGL Jan. 6, a move that was part of the plan when the league co-founded by Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and McCarley debuted in Palm Beach Gardens in 2025.

“WTGL will be a global stage to showcase LPGA Tour stars, and this first wave of committed players represents that opportunity with some of the world’s best," McCarley said in a statement.

The list includes world No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul, No. 5 Charley Hull, LPGA Hall of Famer and No. 6 Lydia Ko, 14-time LGPA winner Brooke Henderson and the semi-retired Thompson, who has won 11 times on the LPGA Tour.

"These players will thrive in WTGL’s competitive environment as fans will witness their skill and connect more deeply with their personalities through the unprecedented access the league delivers with every player mic’d in the modern match play team format,” McCarley said.

TMRW Sports was looking to provide a platform for LPGA stars to showcase their personalities.

"We wanted to provide an environment like this for them, but who knows what the future holds?" McCarley said when the league was announced. "We may get to a place where we look at alternate versions and other opportunities. But first off, we're focused on making sure we can deliver WTGL with the best players in the world with the LPGA as our partners in the winter of this year."
