Liam Coen's message to Jaguars after playoff loss to Bills

The Jacksonville Jaguars suffered a tough loss in the AFC wild-card round to the Buffalo Bills, losing 27-24 after a late touchdown drive by Josh Allen.

After the game, quarterback Trevor Lawrence shared what Liam Coen's message was after the loss.

"He talked about how proud he was to coach this group. How much fun it was and rewarding it was to coach us. We feel the same way as players. We're all in this together, and not just the camaraderie between the players, but also between the players and staff."

Lawrence then continued, "It was really a cool team, a special year. And it sucks because you're never going to have the exact same group again. So I think that's the worst part, it's over. There's going to be a lot of things that stay the same, but it's never the exact same group.

"I wish could have made a couple more plays to keep this thing going and be playing next week, but that's not the reality. So it was tough, and he had a good message for us. So we appreciate him. He's a hell of a coach. I can't think of one better."

It was a rapid turnaround for the Jaguars in Coen's first year as head coach. After mustering just four wins a year ago, Jacksonville won 13 games in 2025.

Along with that, the Jaguars won the AFC South and returned to the playoffs for the first time since 2022, which included hosting Sunday's game.

The offense over the second half of the season was one of the most productive in football, while the defense was one of the best at generating takeaways and was one of the stingiest during Jacksonville's eight-game winning streak.

Outside of the production, the resiliency of this Coen-led team was on display often.

Anytime a season comes to an end shy of winning the Super Bowl, there is going to be disappointment. But the Jaguars established a very strong foundation in 2025 that can be a jumping-off point going into 2026 and beyond.
