Longhorns basketball commits to home-and-home series with Memphis

For the next two seasons, Texas Longhorns basketball is adding a new twist to its schedule. The Longhorns and the University of Memphis will play a home-and-home series starting during the 2026-2027 campaign. The festivities will begin with Texas hosting Memphis on December 16th, followed by Memphis hosting Texas the following year. 

In the all-time series, Texas holds a 4-2 advantage since the programs first met during the 1965-66 campaign. While the teams have not faced each other every year, this is not the first time they have had a season series. 

During the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons, the two programs faced off, with Texas winning both games. The Longhorns started that series with a  74-67 victory in Austin on January 6, 2005. Almost a year later, Texas continued its winning ways with a 69-58 victory on the road. 

While the Longhorns have some of their schedule set for the future, their focus is on bringing a title to Austin this year. In the programs first season under Sean Miller they have shown encouraging signs. Through 28 games, the Longhorns have posted a 17-11 record which includes a 8-7 mark in conference play.

Unlike Texas, Memphis has struggled this season. They have posted a 12-16 record through 28 games. In conference play they have struggled with consistency posting a 7-8 mark. As the Tigers look to turn their program around a win over Texas next year would be a big boost.

When the series resumes, the Longhorns will be in a prime position to extend their dominance and build on their two-game lead over the Tigers.
