Major Shedeur Sanders Announcement Made Days After 2025 NFL Draft

No player was discussed more during the 2025 NFL draft than quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

Many expected the 23-year-old passer and son of Colorado head coach and Dallas Cowboys legend Deion Sanders to be picked somewhere in the first round on Thursday at Lambeau Field.

Those same folks were likely shocked to see Sanders slide all the way to the fifth round where he was selected by the Cleveland Browns, who moved up 22 spots to jump ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles, who were rumored to be eyeing him, to grab the polarizing QB.

Though Sanders’ draft slide cost him an estimated $40 million, the good news is he’s well on his way to recouping some of that lost income after a recent announcement on Wednesday.

Fanatics revealed that Sanders officially has the highest-selling NFL jersey among rookies. The company also revealed that Sanders has nine different items fans can buy on its sites, more than every rookie except Tennessee Titans QB Cam Ward, the No. 1 overall pick.

Just two days ago, Sanders was third in rookie jersey sales behind Colorado teammate and Jacksonville Jaguars receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter and Ward, according to NFL Shop.

Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty (fourth) and Carolina Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan (fifth) rounded out the top five.

According to Fanatics, Sanders has yet to pick his NFL number, but he’s expected to stick with the No. 2, which he wore for the last two seasons at Colorado.

Sanders has been a polarizing topic of conversation in the days since the draft with a number of reports emerging about some of his trouble behavior during interviews with NFL teams at the combine and during the pre-draft process.

The reigning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year has his work cut out for him in a crowded quarterback room in Cleveland that features Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett (first-round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2022), and 2025 third-round pick Dillon Gabriel.
