Mavericks Turn Heads With 3-Word Cooper Flagg Draft Reaction

The Dallas Mavericks shocked the NBA world Monday night by winning the 2025 Draft Lottery — and the Cooper Flagg sweepstakes — with just a 1.8% chance to land the No. 1 overall pick.

With their franchise reloaded after trading Luka Donic for Anthony Davis midseason, Dallas now holds the potential rights to the most hyped prospect since LeBron James.

Cooper Flagg, the 6-foot-9 phenom out of Duke, is all but locked in as the No. 1 pick in June’s draft.

And the reaction from Mavericks lottery rep Rolando Blackman said it all.

With a smile and a calm confidence, the four-time All-Star offered a simple assessment.

“He can hoop.”

Flagg starred for Duke during the 2024-25 season, living up to immense expectations with a blend of defensive dominance, highlight plays, and poise rarely seen in college basketball.

The Maine native now likely heads to a Mavericks team looking to return to contender status after a rocky year.

The internet exploded after the announcement, with fans reacting in real-time.

“It was rigged,” one fan joked, while another added, “Adam Silver didn’t even hide it.”

“Absolutely insane three months for this franchise to think if they would’ve held what they had,” one user wrote, referencing the Doncic trade talks.

“THE FLAGG IS BEING PLANTED IN DALLAS!!” another posted.

“Flagg will make his way to Lakers eventually lol,” one fan quipped.

Plenty of others followed suit.

Meanwhile, the Spurs, 76ers and Hornets round out the top four. But for Dallas, this day will be remembered as a franchise turning point.

In fact, the Mavericks became the fourth-longest shot in lottery history to win the No. 1 pick.

The team has its eye on the future, and judging by the early reaction, Cooper Flagg might be the centerpiece they’ve been waiting for.

For a franchise that went all-in last season, this might be the jackpot after some questionable decision making.
