Michigan State basketball earns third straight win to open season, defeating SJSU

Michigan State basketball has officially improved to 3-0 on the 2025-26 season, taking care of their business against San Jose State on Thursday night, 79-60.

Despite starting the game on a 16-2 run, and taking a 46-23 lead into the half, the Spartans still found a way to cause a little stress to Tom Izzo and Spartan nation. SJSU got the lead down to 10 in the second half, but MSU squandered any comeback attempts, and made the final score look comfortable.

Leading the way for MSU was Jaxon Kohler, who scored 17 points and added 18 rebounds, his second double-double of the season. Carson Cooper (17 points), Jeremy Fears (15 points) and Kur Teng (10 points) all finished in double figures for the Spartans.

Michigan State will be back in action on Tuesday, in the Champions Classic, when they take on Kentucky.
