Mike Florio strikes out with theory on Jordan Davis's 1st career touchdown

Mike Florio strikes out with theory on Jordan Davis's 1st career touchdown

This has just been a fantastic Philadelphia Eagles season. Sure, it's just getting started. More games remain than have already been played, but this feels like overindulgence.

You have no idea how many lunch dates or trips to the grocery store have been interrupted by notifications from a social media stream. There's so much to talk about. Taking the rest of the night off feels sinful, so instead of backing away from the table because we've had our fill, we take additional trips to the kitchen for more slices of the apple pie.

Three games in, we've already seen the Birds beat the Dallas Cowboys. No one will ever complain when that happens. Week 2 brought another win over the Kansas City Chiefs, this one at Arrowhead Stadium.

Week 3 offered a rally. It was the type of come-from-behind victory that hasn't been seen since DeSean Jackson kick-sixed one at MetLife Stadium.

He was in the Eagles' locker room postgame following Jordan Davis's field goal block and score by the way. We've gone from another 'Miracle at the Meadowlands' to what has, so far, been the big guy's signature play.

Mike Florio casts an unnecessary shadow on the Eagles' Week 3 win over the Los Angeles Rams.

What a turnaround we have seen from Jordan Davis. What can we say? Sometimes, it takes a while, but Philadelphia's patience has paid off. This is the guy we hoped we'd see ever since the Eagles drafted him 13th overall in 2022.

He's publicly discussed his challenges with discipline in his diet, but this past offseason, he focused on conditioning his body. He changed his workout regimen. He changed what he was eating, and when training camp started, he showed up to work with a new eye-popping physique.

Davis's effort hasn't gone unnoticed, nor have we been able to ignore the effect he is having on the games. He's never played so much. He has never played so well.

That's why his field goal block and return vs. the Los Angeles Rams was so special. It had to be Jordan Davis. He had to take that one to the house and show off that 18.59 miles per hour speed. Good for him!

There's an old saying, though... Haters are going to hate. Please leave it to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio to ruin the moment with an off-base theory.

No disrespect is intended to Florio. He's good at what he does, but this might be the wildest swing and miss we've seen by anyone in quite some time. Nowhere in Davis's thought process before the Rams snap or after the blocked attempt was he thinking, 'What's the line on this game?'...

Suggesting anything else is, in a word, silly. The conversations came after the game. Most were brief.

Should Jordan Davis have fallen on the football to end the game? Absolutely, he should have! Is anyone complaining? No, they are not. After his journey, he deserved to take that one in the end zone.

Let's not overthink or overanalyze everything. That was his moment. We sometimes forget these are real people, and this is an emotional game. It was emotion, not the game's line, that led to Davis's life-changing play (and his first career touchdown). Nothing more... Nothing less...
