Mo Salah hits the jackpot: New contract worth £1.67m a week

Mohamed Salah last week announced he would be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.

The Egyptian King has scored 255 goals for the Reds to date - and has also swept the board for individual honours over the last nine years.

More importantly he’s won everything there is to win in the club game - and Liverpool will be saying goodbye to one of their best players in history.

The 33-year-old signed a new, two-year contract last season worth an estimated £400k per week before bonuses. In part that contract may have been designed to guarantee some transfer income if Salah’s levels dropped.

And this season that is exactly what has transpired - but Liverpool have nonetheless agreed to terminate the deal one year early.

Al-Ittihad draw up Salah contract

Saudi clubs - according to reports - thought they would have to pay £100m to land Salah last January and therefore stayed out of the race. Even ahead of the 2026 summer transfer window it was speculated that the Premier League champions would ask for £50m.

But now they have waived their right to a fee - and Salah is set to cash in on his next deal.

Al-Ittihad cleared the decks for Salah’s arrival in January - getting rid of both N’Golo Kante and Karim Benzema. Another top earner in Moussa Diaby is set to depart in summer with Gazzetta dello Sport claiming the Frenchman could be heading to Inter.

As part of the same report the Italian publication details the contract offer that is going to be sent across Salah’s desk to join Al-Ittihad in the off-season.

Salah offered £1.67m per week

“At Al Ittihad they're ready to go crazy just to convince Momo Salah, football's greatest ambassador in the Muslim world, with the right check,” the report reads.

“There is talk of a whopping offer of €100 million as an annual salary for two seasons.”

At current exchange rates €100m equates to around £87m. Salah is currently earning a touch over £20m gross at Liverpool as part of his current contract and so he is set to more than quadruple his annual salary.

The deal works out at around £1.67m per WEEK - around £238k per day. Salah has therefore hit the jackpot should he decide to move to the Saudi Pro League with Al-Ittihad.
