It’s March Madness. The 68 teams for the women’s tournament has been announced.

There’s just one at-large selection from the mid-majors. Shoutout to the two-bid Atlantic 10 for a second straight year.

Region 1 — Fort Worth

UTSA: The Roadrunners were the first mid-major team revealed. They are a 16-seed, and congratulations, the prize is reigning national champion and top-overall seed UConn. Can UTSA pull off the second-ever 16-over-1?

Western Illinois: The Leathernecks are dancing for a third time in program history, and they’re a 13-seed this year. They open up against North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

Murray State: Behind a program-record 31 wins, the Racers are dancing for a second straight year. They’re a 12-seed and open against Maryland.

Howard: Howard is a 14 and claimed their highest seed since the first NCAA Tournament back in 1982, when it was an 8-seed. The Bison meet Ohio State in Columbus.

Fairfield: The Stags are dancing for a third straight year and claimed an 11-seed, their highest since being a 10 in 1988. Carly Thibault-DuDonis’ team will look to continue its hot shooting (11 3’s a game) against Notre Dame in the first round.

High Point: The Panthers round out the region as they are dancing for a second straight year. They’ll face 2-seed Vanderbilt.

Region 2 — Sacramento

Cal Baptist: Cal Baptist is the 16 seed here as it makes its second straight trip to the Dance. CBU faces UCLA.

Princeton: The Tigers are the first Ivy League school to make five straight NCAA Tournaments. Princeton opens against Oklahoma State.

Green Bay: The Phoenix is a 13-seed as it makes its third straight Big Dance. It’s a matchup of former South Dakota head coaches as Kayla Karius leads GB against Minnesota and Dawn Plitzuweit, who led the Coyotes to the 2022 Sweet 16.

Charleston: The Cougars are making their first trip to the NCAA Tournament. They’re a 14-seed and will travel to Cameron Indoor Stadium for a matchup with Duke.

Richmond: It’s the second straight year the Spiders are an at-large in the NCAA Tournament, but they’ll have to play their way into the Round of 64 with a First-Four meeting against Nebraska. The winner gets Baylor.

Jacksonville: The Dolphins are dancing for a second time, but their reward is a 15-seed and a date with LSU in Baton Rouge.

Region 3 — Fort Worth

Missouri State/Stephen F. Austin: The Bears were a six-seed in the CUSA tournament and went on a run and will now meet SFA in its home state for a shot at top-seed Texas.

Miami (OH): The RedHawk women didn’t have to sweat the bubble the way the men did, but regardless, both of them are in. Miami is a 13 and heads to West Virginia.

James Madison: The computer metrics love the Dukes as they are 45th in the NET. They’ll meet Kentucky as a 12-seed.

Vermont: The Catamounts are dancing once again as its their third trip to the NCAA Tournament in the last four years. They’re a 14 and get a shot at Louisville.

Rhode Island: The dream season for the Rams culminates with an 11-seed. Rhody has won a program-record 28 games this season, and it will see Alabama in the first round.

Holy Cross: A program with so much rich history is back in the tourney after a one-year absence. The Crusaders have a date with 2-seed Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Region 4 — Sacramento

Samford/Southern: Congratulations to the winner of this 16-seed play-in game. You’ll get a shot at perennial power and top-seed South Carolina.

Idaho: The Vandals were dominant in the Big Sky this season and are their highest seed in the NCAA Tournament since 1985. As a 13-seed, they’ll face Oklahoma.

Colorado State: The Rams are back after a decade-long absence. They’re a 12 and open against Michigan State.

UC San Diego: The Tritons have been Division I for six years and are now in their second NCAA Tournament. UCSD is a 14 and faces TCU.

South Dakota State: The Jackrabbits are dancing for a fourth straight year and have advanced past the first round in two of those three trips. Aaron Johnston and Co. are an 11-seed and face Washington.

FDU: The Knights are in the tourney for the second time in history and the second year in a row. They’re a 15-seed and play at Iowa.
