Nebraska wrestling star AJ Ferrari plans to enter transfer portal
All-American wrestler AJ Ferrari will not return to Nebraska next season. This was Ferrari's first season in Lincoln.
Ferrari earned All-American honors with a sixth-place finish at the 2026 NCAA Championships. He earned All-American honors for the third time in his career. He began his career at Cal State Bakersfield and also competed with Oklahoma State. He won a 197-pound national title with the Cowboys in 2021.
He posted an 18-5 overall record, including a 13-2 mark in duals. This included nine bonus-point victories on the year.
Ferrari was a part of a historic 2025-26 season for the program. The Huskers finished third overall nationally and placed third as a team at the Big Ten Championships with 116.5 points.
AJ Ferrari is expected to enter the transfer portal but will require an NCAA waiver to compete next season.
