Nets' Egor Demin, Team Vince beat Team Melo to win Rising Stars event

Brooklyn Nets rookie guard Egor Demin came into Friday's Rising Stars event hoping to help lead Team Vince to the championship so that he can be the talk of All-Star weekend. Brooklyn sent Demin to All-Star weekend as their only representative so that means that he had to be on his "A" game if his team was going to win and he did what he needed to get the title.

Demin, part of Nets legend Vince Carter's Team Vince, had a solid effort to help Team Vince win the Rising Stars challenge after beating two solid teams in Team T-Mac (Tracy McGrady) and Team Melo (Carmelo Anthony). Demin put up two points, two rebounds, and two assists in Team Vince's 41-36 win over Team T-Mac (Tracy McGrady) in the semi-finals.

While Demin has had some huge games over the course of this season, he was able to rely on Philadelphia 76ers rookie guard VJ Edgecombe to explode as he led both teams with 17 points to go along with his five rebounds in the win over Team T-Mac. With Edgecombe leading the way for Team Vince, they were not only able to advance to the championship game, but they were able to win it at the end over Team Melo.

Demin had another decent game as he had two points and two rebounds in Team Vince's 25-24 win over Team Melo while Edgecombe was the star of the game again, albeit with less of a prolific stat line. Edgecombe finished the championship game with six points and two rebounds, but he made two free-throws at the end to seal the win for Team Vince after being fouled by Portland Trail Blazers center Donovan Clingan.

Demin was part of the starting lineup for Team Vince, as was Edgecombe, and the two were able to help the team advance to the championship game against Team Melo. Demin may not have had the most prolific stats over the course of the Rising Stars event, but he can say that he was part of a team that won the championship of an event that was part of All-Star Weekend.
