In the midst of the New York Mets’ game against the Athletics and the Cincinnati Reds’ matchup versus the Los Angeles Angels, history was taking place on the West Coast.

Artemis II successfully reached Earth, and baseball fans were able to see videos of the event

Luckily for those in attendance at Citi Field and the Great American Ball Park, both home teams made sure that the crowds could get a look at Artemis II’s historic splashdown.

When video showed the Orion spacecraft splash into the Pacific Ocean, fans at Citi Field filled the concourse with applause.

Artemis II launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center on April 1, and has successfully completed the first human lunar mission in 50 years. And in this case, sports and culture gelled to produce something special.
