NFL confirms flag football partnership with Tiger Woods' TMRW sports, backed by Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Serena Williams
The NFL confirmed on Monday that it’s partnering with Tiger Woods’ TMRW sports to launch a professional flag football league.
Sportico initially reported the partnership in February. The league confirmed the creation of the league on Monday alongside announcing a who’s who of NFL investors including Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Joe Montana.
Per the NFL, the new league will be for men and women. Flag football at the Olympic level now features separate men’s and women’s teams.
The NFL aims to align the league’s launch with “the run-up to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics,” where flag football will make its Olympics debut. Further details about the new league were sparse. It’s not clear from the announcement who will play in it, what it will be called or how it will be organized.
Per the league, NFL teams are investing up to $32 million in the flag football league through their collective investment vehicle 32 Equity. Among the other investors from the league’s roster of current and former players includes Bobby Wagner, Larry Fitzgerald, Russell Wilson and Eli Manning.
Tennis greats Serena Williams and Billie Jean King and former USWNT great Alex Morgan are also among the investors, as is Williams’ husband and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, a venture capitalist who’s invested in multiple women’s sports ventures.
TMRW Sports is a sports and technology company that was founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy and launched and operates the TGL indoor golf league.
