Noah Whittington wins Ducks Wire Player of the Game vs. Rutgers
Anyone who thought the Oregon Ducks’ loss to the Indiana Hoosiers last week would define their season was sorely mistaken. Oregon has had some impressive victories this season, but their win over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Saturday just felt completely different.
After a fumble on the opening drive, the Ducks settled in and never looked back, putting up 56 points, including 42 of them in the first half. They got a tremendous amount of contributions from nearly everyone on offense, so it felt like a game where the entire unit could win the Ducks Wire Player of the Game.
But there was one man who stuck out just a little bit more, and his name is Noah Whittington, the winner of this week’s Player of the Game. He finished the contest against Rutgers with 125 yards and two rushing touchdowns on just 11 carries and added an extra nine yards through the air and a receiving touchdown.
Both of Whittington’s scores on the ground were explosive, going for 68 and 28 yards each, so it felt like he was all over the field. Perhaps the most impressive part of his performance was that the majority of it came in the first half before the starters were take out.
Oregon bounced back in a big way after a tough loss to Indiana last week, so it seems like they are still focused and poised to make a deep run.
