Ohio State flips offensive tackle from NC State for 2026 cycle

Recruiting news often takes the back seat to all comings and goings of the season once games start being played, especially when Ohio State is ranked No. 1 in the country and on track for really big things.

However, as things get closer to the Early Signing Period, we'll start to get some more nuggets, and yes, even commitments and flips, especially in the new world of Name, Image and Likeness. And on that note, OSU flipped an offensive tackle commitment from North Carolina State this week.

Ohio product Landry Brede out of Mentor originally committed to the Wolfpack in June, but rumors started to swirl that a flip might be imminent after Ohio State offered the 6-foot, 5-inch, 280-pounder last month. Brede is ranked as the No. 91 offensive tackle and 1,114th prospect in the 2026 cycle according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, but clearly the OSU staff sees some potential in a position that is awfully hard to scout for.

The commitment brings the Buckeyes' class back to 22 for 2026 as we continue to near the start of the Early Signing Period in December. Look for some more news to trickle out as we get closer to that season.
