Ohio State's Projected $1.1 Million Star QB Dealt Concerning News

Ohio State Buckeye's star quarterback Will Howard was drafted by the Steelers this past week, leaving a gap in the roster. The position of QB1 for this fall now has three top contenders.

After the spring game, Julian Sayin, the $1.1 million NIL signal caller, became the front-runner for the spot. The five-star transfer from Alabama was ahead of Lincoln Kienholz despite his superior performance in the Student Appreciation Day. But head coach Ryan Day recently dealt some concerning news for Sayin.

"I'm encouraged with what we saw coming out. You can see the talent with Tavien. He just needs more experience, needs more at-bats and the more he does that, the more he'll be in the mix. But right now, it's a two-horse race." Day explained to reporters on Tuesday.

Tavien St. Clair was already out of the race since spring practice. Day claimed that Clair needs further improvement and experience than the two contenders. But the surprising thing is that he still calls it a "two-way race", meaning there is still sufficient chance for Kienholz to bag that role ahead of Sayin. The competition for the spot at the center is still very much on.

"I think the next couple months, those guys coming in here and continuing to get stronger and faster and getting on the film, now they have cut-ups that they can watch to grow from," Day added.

With summer workouts looming, both contenders will focus on getting stronger, faster, and more comfortable in Ohio State’s complex schemes, a period Day stressed as critical for improvement.
