Oklahoma Sooners hit 5 home runs in 14-2 win over Ole Miss

It was another powerful performance for the Oklahoma Sooners lineup in their 14-2 win over Ole Miss on Sunday night. The Sooners hit five home runs and jumped out to a 6-0 lead through their first two at-bats. They picked up right where they left off on Saturday night.

Kasidi Pickering got the game going with a leadoff walk and advanced on a wild pitch to get into scoring position. After Ella Parker walked, Pickering stole third on a strikeout. Isabela Emerling drove Pickering in on a groundout to make it 1-0. Then Gabbie Garcia launched her 15th home run of the season, a two-run shot to make it 3-0 Sooners in the first. Kai Minor followed Garcia's bomb with a home run of her own, her fifth of the season, to give Oklahoma a 4-0 lead.

Miali Guachino got the start against her former team and worked around a single and a walk with a pair of strikeouts to close out the inning and keep the Rebels off the board.

In the second, Pickering kept the offense going with a two-run home run to give the Sooners a 6-0 lead. It was Pickering's 13th of the season.

The Rebels finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second when Cassie Reasner hit a lead off solo home run off Guachino to make it 6-1. But that's all Ole Miss could muster as the Sooners starter retired the next three hitters to end the inning.

Oklahoma added to their lead at the top of the third when Minor hit her second home run of the game and sixth of the year. This time it was a two-run home run to give OU a 8-1 lead after three.

The fourth provided even more fireworks for the Sooners. Ella Parker and Lexi McDaniel walked with one out and Garcia's fly ball down the left field line was just out of the reach of Ole Miss' Tenly Grisham for a double. That allowed Parker to score and McDaniel to advance to third on the play. After Minor lined out, Ailana Agbayni earned a two-out walk to load the bases and Sydney Barker followed with a walk to drive in a run and keep the bases loaded for Abby Dayton. Dayton continued her power surge with a grand slam home run to right field to make it 14-1 Oklahoma.

Guachino allowed a lead-off double to Ole Miss star Madi George in the bottom of the fourth but responded by retiring the side in order with a runner in scoring position. Sydney Berzon allowed a run on one hit and a walk in the fifth but kept the Rebels from getting back into the game and closed out the win.

Guachino moved to 8-0 in 2026 with the victory and Oklahoma improved to 31-2 and 5-0 in SEC play. The Sooners and the Texas Longhorns are the only two undefeated teams in conference play through the first few weekends.

The Sooners received contributions up and down the lineup in the win. Gabbie Garcia went 2-for-2 with a walk, a home run, a double, three RBIs and three runs scored. Kia Minor was 2-for-3 at the plate with two home runs and three RBIs. Abby Dayton went 1-for-2 with a walk, a grand slam, four RBIs, and two runs scored. Kasidi Pickering was 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, two runs scored, and two RBIs.

In addition to the five home runs, Oklahoma earned nine walks and was 4-for-7 with runners in scoring position. The Sonoers now have 127 home runs on the season, and with each home run, they are resetting the SEC record book. They also move closer to breaking the single-season home run mark of 158 set by the Sooners in 2021.

The Sooners will close out the series on Monday night at 6 p.m. from the Ole Miss Softball Complex.
