The USA currently has 17 medals, and two of them were brought in by Washington-associated athletes.

As of Monday morning, here’s which medals Team USA holds:

  • Alpine Skiing: 1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze
  • Cross-Country Skiing: 1 silver, 1 bronze
  • Curling: 1 silver
  • Figure Skating: 1 gold, 1 silver
  • Freestyle Skiing: 1 gold, 3 silver, 1 bronze
  • Luge: 1 bronze
  • Snowboarding: 1 silver
  • Speed Skating: 2 gold

Washington state athletes with medals

Western Washington University alum Breezy Johnson took home Team USA’s first medal of the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympic Games, earning a gold medal in Women’s Downhill with a time of 1 minute and 36.10 seconds.

A few days later, Johnson lost out on the podium to Jackie Wiles and her teammate Paula Moltzan, who together earned their bronze medals in Alpine Skiing Women’s Team Combined. While she originally hails from Portland, Oregon, U.S. Ski and Snowboard calls Wiles “a product entirely of the Pacific Northwest Ski Association.”

Anna Gibson, a former University of Washington runner and member of the Seattle-based Brooks Beasts running team, is making her Winter Olympics debut in the inaugural Ski Mountaineering race.

Ice Hockey

Seattle Torrent - PWHL

The U.S. Olympic Women’s Ice Hockey Team, which includes four Seattle Torrent players, kicked off the 2026 Olympic Games with a 5-1 win over Czechia.

The Torrent’s Hilary Knight was named captain of the team, with Torrent forward Alex Carpenter joining the leadership team as one of two alternate captains. Torrent forward Hannah Bilka and defender Cayla Barnes are also on the roster.

Torrent defender Aneta Tejralová is playing for Team Czechia.

Knight tied the record for the most career Olympic goals (14) in U.S. women’s ice hockey history last weekend. The five-time Olympian, who has announced the 2026 Winter Olympics will be her last, is now tied with Hockey Hall of Fame inductees Katie King and Natalie Darwitz for most Olympic goals in U.S. Women’s Olympic history.

Canada is set to play Switzerland on Monday, with the winning team advancing to play Team USA in the Women’s Gold Medal Game on Thursday.

Seattle Kraken - NHL

Kraken goaltender Philipp Grubauer is competing for Team Germany, while right-wingers Eeli Tolvanen and Kaapo Kakko are playing for Team Finland. Seattle Kraken forward Oscar Fisker Molgaard is playing for Team Denmark.
