We’ve reached that time of year when a player first announces that “we’ve got X finals left to go this season.”

In this case it was fan favourite and one of our few consistent performers this season, Trevoh Chalobah. Speaking to the club’s official website in the days after the Blues snapped a long run of defeats, the defender tried to rally his troops when looking forward to the conclusion of the campaign.

Trevoh Chalobah on Chelsea’s “five finals”

Before the proverbial “finals” in the run of league games to end the season, there an actual final – the FA Cup final against Man City.

“It’s another final for us. Last year we were in finals [UEFA Conference League and Club World Cup] and the year before too [with the Carabao Cup]. So, we have that mentality, and it’s good that we showed that. We all knew what the goal was: to win no matter what,” Chalobah said.

“For us, it’s just focusing on what we have. There are another five finals ahead: four in the Premier League and then, obviously, here [at Wembley] in the FA Cup. We have to go into them with the quality and hunger that we know we can show.”

In other news…

Chelsea’s Tosin played well against Leeds on Sunday in a setup which really played to his strenghts.

Charlie Austin joked that Chelsea might not actually want a new manager, and he’s not a million miles away.
