Oregon Duck fans react to 5-star QB Will Mencl's commitment

The Oregon Ducks landed one of the biggest commitments of the Dan Lanning era on Wednesday afternoon, picking up 5-star quarterback Will Mencl, the No. 1-ranked passer in the 2027 class, according to On3.
Mencl stands at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, and has skyrocketed up the recruiting rankings over the past several weeks. He chose the Ducks over schools like the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Auburn Tigers. The Ducks have been one of the leading schools for Mencl over the past couple of months, and a visit to Eugene earlier in April led to him making a decision and joining what Oregon is building under Lanning.
With the commitment, Oregon's class jumps up in the rankings, giving them the No. 5-ranked class in the 2027 cycle, leaping over teams like the Washington Huskies, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Penn State Nittany Lions.
