Oregon G Jamari Phillips leaves program, 9th Duck to transfer
The Oregon Ducks lost another member to the transfer portal on Thursday night. This time, guard Jamari Phillips took the plunge into the transfer portal after two seasons in Eugene, according to On3's Pete Nakos.
Phillips came off the bench for the Ducks in 26 games last season, averaging 2.7 points in 11.3 minutes per game. His role grew after a freshman campaign in which he appeared in only 14 games. Phillips' best game in the 2025-26 season came at home against UCLA in January when he scored nine points and grabbed two rebounds over 31 minutes off the bench. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

As Dana Altman noted in his press conference on Thursday, the number of Ducks opting to transfer isn't surprising, but it still doesn't put the Ducks in a great spot as they attempt to refill the roster. Phillips is the ninth Duck to announce his intention to transfer, joining Kwame Evans Jr., Jackson Shelstad, Dezdrick Lindsay, Devon Pryor, JJ Frakes, Wei Lin, Ege Demir and Efe Vatan.
Phillips was a former four-star recruit and a solid win for Altman on the recruiting trail to pull the talented guard out of Arizona. Now, Altman is going to have to use that same sway to rebuild his backcourt in Eugene with the room depleted.
The Ducks did get some good news on Thursday when forward Sean Stewart announced his intention to return to Oregon for next season. He will be the only scholarship player from last season to suit up for the Ducks again in 2026.
Despite the concerns around the program's budget and NIL commitments being reduced or pulled altogether, according to Altman, the Ducks are still competing for talented players in the portal. Oregon will host San Francisco guard Tyrone Riley IV on a transfer visit on Friday, and has scheduled a visit with Boise State forward Andrew Meadow on April 14.
Even with all the losses, Oregon will field a team of new faces next season, and Altman will have a guiding hand in the overall roster construction in a big year for the program.
