Packers to host pre-draft visit with Texas Tech edge rusher Romello Height

The Green Bay Packers will host a visit with Texas Tech edge rusher Romello Height before the 2026 NFL draft, according to NFL draft analyst Ryan Fowler.

Height (6-3, 239) was an All-Big 12 pick in 2025 after producing 10.0 sacks and 11.5 tackles for loss for one of the nation's most dominant defenses. He spent his first five seasons at Auburn (2020-21), USC (2022-23) and Georgia Tech (2024) before producing 62 pressures (seventh-most among edge rushers) during his lone season at Texas Tech.

Across 50 career games, Height produced 16.5 sacks, 27 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles and an interception. He was a Senior Bowl invitee.

At the NFL Scouting Combine, Height ran the 40-yard dash in 4.64 seconds (1.63-second 10-yard split), hit 39" in the vertical leap and covered 10-5 in the broad jump. His Relative Athletic Score without agility testing is 8.80, mostly due to smaller size.

From Lance Zierlein of NFL.com: "An edge defender with a lean, angular frame, Height will need a heavy dose of weight-room work to compete at the pro level. His rush is fast and relentless. He uses long strides to challenge at the top and can leap inside the protection. However, his lack of play strength and contact balance allow blockers to bounce him around. Height needs to improve his skill level and refine his approach if he’s going to make an impact as a designated pass rusher, but he has the talent to cause some chaos in the pocket."

The Packers are likely to acquire an edge rusher to provide depth, either through the draft or veteran free agency. Height is currently ranked No. 83 on the consensus big board, making him a possible option in the third round (the Packers hold pick No. 84).

Fowler previously reported that Height will take visits with at least five different teams, which isn't surprising given his career arc -- playing for four different schools -- and a late breakout season.
