Packers will make DE Micah Parsons the highest paid non-QB in NFL history

The impact of trading for a player like Micah Parsons is two-fold. First, trade compensation. But second, contractual agreement. The Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys agreed on a blockbuster trade sending Parsons to Green Bay on Thursday.

The compensation: two first-round picks (2026, 2027) and defensive lineman Kenny Clark.

The contract: the richest deal ever for a non-quarterback.

According to NFL.com, the Packers and Parsons agreed to a four-year, $188 million deal with $136 million guaranteed. The $47 million per year average is the most ever for a non-quarterback. Of the $136 million guaranteed, $120 million is fully guaranteed at signing, another record.

Parsons is 26, a three-time All-Pro and four-time Pro Bowler. He is on a Hall of Fame trajectory after producing 52.5 sacks during his first four NFL seasons. The Cowboys bluffed at meeting Parsons' monetary demands. The Packers did not, and now Matt LaFleur's team will replace the iconic star on Parsons' helmet with the iconic "G."

Parsons joins quarterback Jordan Love as the two players in Green Bay with contracts over $150 million. Love signed a $220 million deal -- then the richest ever -- with the Packers last summer. The Packers also recently agreed to deals worth $96 million to Rashan Gary, $88 million to Zach Tom and $77 million to Aaron Banks, so salary cap maneuvering is going to be required for Brian Gutekunst and cap analyst Russ Ball over the next few seasons.
