Patriots to Sign 6-Foot-3 Championship Playmaker for Drake Maye
The New England Patriots may have landed a sleeper following the NFL draft. Helping quarterback Drake Maye was a major priority early in the draft and this continued as the team signed undrafted free agents.
New England started the draft selecting LSU Tigers offensive lineman Will Campbell. The Patriots went on to snag two additional playmakers with their next two picks in Ohio State Buckeyes running back TreVeyon Henderson and Washington State Cougars receiver Kyle Williams.
The clear goal is to keep Maye more upright in 2025 and give the quarterback additional playmakers to utilize in the offense.
Now, it looks like a familiar face is joining Henderson in his move to New England. Ohio State announced that the Patriots have signed Buckeyes tight end Gee Scott Jr. as an undrafted free agent.
It is an intriguing move for Maye and New England as Scott was a key part of the Ohio State offense on the way to winning a national championship.
Scott posted 27 receptions for 253 yards and two touchdowns in 16 games for the Buckeyes in 2024. What may not be evident in Scott's numbers is the tight end's ability to come up with clutch plays.

Scott is listed at 6-foot-3 and 243 pounds. In addition to posting a tribute video to Scott, Ohio State also took to social media to wish the tight end well at the next level.
"Gee Scott Jr. to the @Patriots," Ohio State's official X account posted on Saturday. "Good luck in your next chapter Gee!!"

The Athletic's Dane Brugler had Scott ranked as his No. 28 tight end in the 2025 draft class. Scott joins a talented Pats tight end group that includes Hunter Henry, Austin Hooper and Jaheim Bell.
