Phil Foden has reached an agreement in principle with Manchester City over a new long-term contract.

The 25-year-old’s current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2027.

Foden is now poised to sign a new four-year contract that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2030, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein

The club will also have an option to extend it by another year.

Foden is one of the best talents to emerge from City’s youth academy. He rose through the ranks to make his first-team debut in 2017 against Feyenoord at the age of 17.

The attacking midfielder has been a key member of Pep Guardiola’s team over the years. He has made 365 appearances across all competitions, with 110 goals and 66 assists to his name.

Foden has won six Premier League titles, a Champions League and two FA Cups during his time at City so far.

He has featured in 29 top-flight games this season, bagging seven goals and three assists in the process.

Foden’s levels have dropped since he won the PFA Player of the Year award in 2023-24.

But the England international is still regarded as a top player who is highly rated for his close control and dribbling skills. He is also praised for his passing, intelligence and finishing ability.

Foden mainly operates as an attacking midfielder but can also play on the wings.
