NEW YORK — Donald Trump is expected to attend Sunday’s U.S. Open men’s final, a source with knowledge of the preparations told Yahoo Sports.

Trump frequently attended the tournament as a private citizen and had connections to several tennis players including 1990 champion Gabriela Sabatini, whom he briefly dated. He has not come to the event since 2015, even though he attended several sporting events during his first term as president.

The U.S. Tennis Association has been briefed on the president’s plans and is making accommodations to host him Sunday.

Trump has been a regular at major sporting events, particularly in his second term. He attended Super Bowl LIX in February, as well as Daytona 500, the NCAA wrestling championships, several UFC events and the FIFA Club World Cup.
