Pulaski boys start golf season off strong

The Pulaski County High School boys’ golf team has begun their 2025 campaign strong after being named a top 15 team in the state preseason.

In their first tournament of the season, the Gimmie Golf Classic, the Maroons “A” team finished second as a team with Luke Ousley finishing second as an individual. The “B” team finished eighth. Somerset finished 13th as a team. Other local finishers included Pulaski’s Blake Leigh in seventh, Pulaski’s Blake Fraley in ninth, Pulaski’s Blake Worley in 15th, Somerset’s Bryson Stevens in 19th and Pulaski’s Eyan Hutchinson in 21st.

In the Capital City Championship, Pulaski finished third while Somerset placed 16th. Ousley again finished in second place for the Maroons with a 66.

In the KGCA Invitational, Pulaski finished in fifth place as a team, with Ousley again leading the way with a 74 to finish 21st place as an individual.

The Somerset Briar Jumpers hosted their annual Somerset Invitational on Friday, with Pulaski’s “A” team winning the tournament. Other local team finishes included Pulaski’s “B” team in sixth, Somerset’s “A” team in 11th, Pulaski’s “C” team in 17th and Somerset’s “B” team in 19th. The top local finisher was again Ousley, who finished fourth with a score of 72. Other local finishers included Pulaski’s Ben Hampton in fifth, Worley in eighth, Pulaski’s Quin McArthur in 20th, Pulaski’s Ty Brown in 24th, Stevens in 25th, Hutchinson in 28th, Pulaski’s Parker Viers in 29th, Somerset’s Michael Coffey in 32nd, Blake Fraley in 36th, Blake Leigh in 41st, Pulaski’s Hudson Leigh in 42nd, Pulaski’s Prewitt McGlothin in 55th, Pulaski’s Renner Cornett in 59th, Somerset’s Aedyn Absher in 61st, Somerset’s Jeremiah Whitis in 69th, Somerset’s Ian Muse in 71st, Pulaski’s Paxton Butcher in 78th, Somerset’s Charlie House in 83rd, Pulaski’s Jace Dick in 87th, Somerset’s Josh Lewis in 101st, Somerset’s Clark Litteral in 102nd and Somerset’s Luke Stringer in 103rd.

On Saturday in the Jackson Energy Invitational, the Maroons finished second as a team with a score of 303, with Ousley claiming the individual title with a score of 67. Pulaski’s “B” team finished with a total score of 336. Other finishers for the Maroons included Worley with a 77, Hampton and Fraley with an 80, Blake Leigh with an 81, Brown with an 82, Cornett with an 83, Hutchinson with an 84, Hudson Leigh with an 87 and McGlothin with an 88.

On the girls’ side, Pulaski finished seventh in the Cardinal Shootout last week at General Burnside Island. Reagan New finished in 13th place with a score of 90 to lead the way for the Lady Maroons. Other finishers included Madeline Butcher in 15th, Malia Bullock in 42nd and Blakely Garland in 46th.
