Rams will 'look into' adding cornerback help with secondary struggling
The Los Angeles Rams’ secondary started the season well but it has gotten progressively worse in each of the last four games. The defense went from allowing 143 passing yards in Week 2 to allowing 202, 248 and 333 in the last three weeks, struggling against the likes of A.J. Brown, Kendrick Bourne and AD Mitchell.
Thursday's loss to Mac Jones and the 49ers may have been the straw that breaks the camel's back.
It’s not one individual cornerback who’s had trouble in coverage, either. It’s the group as a whole, and it might be time to make a change. Sean McVay said during his call with reporters on Friday that the Rams will “look into” adding a cornerback to aid with the struggles on the back end.
He’s not exclusively blaming the cornerbacks for the defense’s lapses, but it’s clear that group has been the weak link thus far.
Asked Sean McVay if he's content with the current cornerback group as is and whether they'll potentially add there, and he said "we're gonna look into" the possibility of adding there.

McVay and Chris Shula have attempted to make adjustments with Ahkello Witherspoon, deploying different rotations with Cobie Durant, Emmanuel Forbes Jr. and Darious Williams. Durant has played the most of the three in recent weeks, with Forbes and Williams flip-flopping as starters in the last two games.
On Thursday night against the 49ers, Durant and Williams got the start and played more snaps than Forbes, emerging as the top two cornerbacks. The Rams have yet to find a formidable combination since Witherspoon went down and it's an area of concern that needs addressing.
The free-agent market isn't exactly rich with starting-caliber cornerbacks but perhaps the Rams will consider making a trade for someone before the Nov. 4 deadline.
