Recently-released ex-Saints defensive lineman already has a new team
The New Orleans Saints are in a difficult position of their own currently following a 2-8 start, and some other teams around the NFL have remained in a similar spot. One team that has consistently found itself here is the New York Jets, who currently also sit at 2-8 at the bottom of the AFC East. Following this start, they are looking to be competitive down the stretch still by bringing in some veterans, and they recently signed a former Saints defensive tackle.
That lineman is Khalen Saunders, who was traded by the Saints earlier in the year to the Jacksonville Jaguars, in return for center Luke Fortner, now a starter in New Orleans due to the injury of Erik McCoy. As for Saunders, he will head to his third team in the span of about four months, signing with a struggling Jets squad that desperately needs all the help they can get.

Following two seasons with 10+ starts each, Saunders now finds himself with only two games played in 2025, neither of which was a start. In his seven-year career, he has never fallen below playing 31% of defensive snaps for a team, aside from this year, where he only has 25 total snaps, good for 18% of the games he has played in. He just has not found a spot that will give him reps to play, and ultimately, the Jets may be a good landing spot to find some.
