It's a great time to be a sports fan in Western New York.
The Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres are putting together a combination of feats not done in a quarter-century.
It became official on Saturday: This is the first year that the Bills and Sabres both make the playoffs at the same time since 1999-2000.

The Sabres didn't even have to play on Saturday to clinch their spot. A New York Rangers win over the Detroit Red Wings was enough to do that.
The Bills, of course, are on their best run since their four consecutive Super Bowl appearances.
They don't yet have anything to show for it, not even a Super Bowl made with Josh Allen. But there's still time.
The Sabres weren't holding up their end of the bargain. For each of the past 14 NHL seasons, they had missed the playoffs.
Buffalo's last playoff hockey game was on April 26, 2011.
Now, they'll be able to update that figure.
The Bills know the playoffs. And the Sabres will again, too.
