Saints send heavy contingent with their head coach to Miami QB Cam Ward's pro day
The New Orleans Saints are sending members of the brass to Miami’s pro day, per NewOrleansFootball’s Nick Underhill, which Nola.com's Luke Johnson clarified include head coach Kellen Moore plus offensive and defensive coordinators Doug Nussmeier and Brandon Staley, among others. All 32 teams will be scouting the Hurricanes today and several squads will have high-level executives in attendance, so this isn't too unusual.
When hearing the news, you’ll immediately think about quarterback Cam Ward. Ward will be the focal point, but there are other prospects like running back Damien Martinez, tight end Elijah Arroyo, and defensive end Tyler Baron the Saints could be scouting. Slot receiver Xavier Restrepo is another early-round prospect who could be in play.
New Orleans may be interested and Ward may dream of the opportunity to lead the Saints, but Ward to New Orleans still feels like a pipe dream. It still makes sense to do your due diligence on the prospect. If Kellen Moore loves him enough, there is an aggressive path to acquiring Ward. If the Saints choose to keep their picks rather than trade up to the start of the draft, players like Martinez and Arroyo give Moore weapons at positions of need. It's easy to see why the Saints are putting so much attention on the U to start their week.
If you're interesting in tuning in, the workouts will be broadcast live on the ACC Network at 4 p.m. ET/3 p.m. CT, and at 4:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. CT on NFL Network.
