Seacoast Friday Roundup: Dover field hockey coach reaches milestone in OT win

DOVER - Giana Leonardi scored the game-winning goal 7:12 into overtime as the Dover High School field hockey team beat Merrimack, 2-1 on Friday, Sept. 12 in a Division I game.

Sarah Michaud earned her 100th win as the head coach of the Dover High School field hockey team in Friday's 2-1 overtime win over Merrimack. Dover is now 5-1 on the season.

Dover is now 5-1 on the season. The win marked the 100th for Dover head coach Sarah Michaud.

Meredith Toland also scored for Dover, while Hannah Deroy had one assist. Dover goalie Scarlett Gray had 11 saves.

DURHAM - Keilan Cox scored two goals and Grayson Ahn scored one for Oyster River in its Division II win. Xander Ahn had an assist for the Bobcats.

DOVER - Jaela Stockbower, Sylvie Wamberg, and Sawyer Yim all scored two goals for PCA (4-0) in this Division IV win.

NORTHWOOD - The Hilltoppers suffered their first loss in more than a year with this Divison II setback. Invidual game scores were 27-25, 13-25, 25-21, 23-25, 15-7.

Savanna Comeau led Somersworth with 14 kills and 14 digs, while Emily Runions (11 kills, 23 digs), Kylie Pettengill (30 assists) and Paige Demers (eight kills, five blocks) contributed.

ALTON - Kaity Kelly had 10 kills and Jules Stowell had 17 assists for St. Thomas (2-1) in its Division II sweep.

DOVER - Bea Monahan had seven kills, four aces and 18 digs for PCA (1-3) in its Division III win.

Individual game scores were 25-22, 25-22, 21-25, 25-18.

Lauryn Flynn added 15 assists and five aces for the Eagles, while Molly Marquis had eight aces and nine digs, and Dylan Anderson and Caroline Braman both had six kills.

Portsmouth wins three-team meet

PORTSMOUTH - Portsmouth had four runners in the top five and had a first-place team score of 21 in a three-team meet.

Dover (41) and Kennett (72) placed second and third, respectively.

Dover's Lily Fiorenza won the race in a time of 22 minutes, 30.1 seconds. Portsmouth's Georgia Parrott (22:45.8), Ava Barrows (22:49.4), Jenny Ryan (23:06.4) and Kelsey Campbell (23:10) placed second through fifth, respectively.

Dover's Janelle Poulin was sixth in 24:01.3.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Portsmouth wins three-team meet

PORTSMOUTH - Gavin Leader placed first in a time of 19:08.5 as the Clippers had five runners in the top 10 and had a first-place team score of 31 in a three-team meet.

Kennett (38) and Dover (51) placed second and third, respectively.

Portsmouth's Luke Boynton (19:42.2), Wilson Jaggers (19:42.4), Daniel Sabalakov (19:49.8) and Victor Mohedano (19:51.4) placed sixth through ninth, respectively.

Dover's Finn Polzin was fourth in 19:39.3

MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS SOCCER

PORTSMOUTH - Alex Brandt, Quinn Lane and Louise Tanguay each scored a goal for Portsmouth, while Broolyn Sargent earned the shutout. Defensively, Gisele Randall and Gabriella O’Connell starred.
