SEC tight end with impressive speed has Colts' interest

The Indianapolis Colts are doing their homework on the tight end position ahead of the 2026 NFL draft.

According to Essentially Sports' draft analyst Tony Pauline, Mississippi State tight end Seydou Traore had an official pre-draft visit with the Colts.

During the pre-draft process, each NFL team can have up to 30 draft prospects take an official visit. These visits can be with first-round prospects all the way to UDFAs.

Traore has been a big factor in the passing game over the last three seasons, totaling 164 targets during that span. He's been reliable as well, catching 72% of those passes, while averaging 11.2 yards per catch with 10 touchdowns -- five of which came this season.

This past season, a career-high 50.1% of Traore's snaps came as a blocker. For what it's worth, by PFF's metrics, he did not grade out well as a run-blocker.

Pro Football Network is projecting that Traore is taken in the sixth round.

What is the Colts' need at tight end?

Another addition doesn't have to be made here, but adding some competition for that fourth tight end spot on the roster wouldn't be a bad idea. Also, the draft is about planning ahead, and Alie-Cox, Ogletree, and Mallory are all free agents in 2027.
