Steelers DB Jalen Ramsey fined more than $17k for hit on Michael Pittman Jr.

On Saturday, the NFL handed out fines and that includes one to Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey. Ramsey, starting at free safety last week, was assessed a fine of $17,389 for a hit on Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. late in last week's win over Indianapolis.

Ramsey was flagged for a hit on a defenseless receiver on the play and while he didn't make contact with his helmet, he went high and made clear contact with Pittman's head. Ramsey commented this week that he's trying to "keep the game of football fierce, physical, competitive," but stands by the fact that he thought the hit was clean since he didn't use his helmet.

Ramsey will get his second-straight start at free safety this week when the Steelers take on the Los Angeles Chargers. After DeShon Elliott went down with a knee injury, the coaching staff made the move and it paid real dividends last week.
