The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed May 1 that the case would not move forward. According to a statement shared with the Detroit Free Press, the fan involved—identified as Ryan Kennedy—did not appear to suffer any injuries and did not seek medical attention following the interaction.
Details from the statement outlined how the incident unfolded during the Steelers’ game against the Detroit Lions. Around 5:30 p.m., Kennedy reportedly left his seat holding a Metcalf jersey in hopes of getting an autograph. As he approached the front railing, he said something to the receiver. When Metcalf came near the stands, a brief confrontation occurred in which he grabbed the fan’s shirt and pushed him backward.
