Stefon Diggs reacts to 1,000-yard receiving milestone with Patriots

New England Patriots wideout Stefon Diggs was relieved to hit the 1,000-yard receiving milestone against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

He spoke about what it meant to hit that mark this season after tearing his ACL the previous year with the Houston Texans.

“Rejoice. Sigh of relief. People don’t know how much work it took to get here, so I’m just really thankful," Diggs told reporters in the locker room. "Thankful for my teammates and for my coaches. They were probably more happier than I was. I put in a lot of work to get to that point. ...People just don't know. Coming off an ACL, getting your confidence back and being around the right people, it pushes you each and every day. That's why I'm so thankful God is good. God is amazing, actually."

Diggs finished the regular season with 85 catches for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns. He tallied three catches for 43 yards against the Dolphins on Sunday. The veteran wideout became the first Patriots receiver since Julian Edelman in 2019 to reach the 1,000-yard mark.

He has been a key piece for the Patriots' offense this season, notching five 100-yard games in his first year with the team. He became a favorite of quarterback Drake Maye over the course of the season, and the two have built a strong rapport together on the field.

The Patriots took a risk in signing Diggs in free agency, given the injury concerns. So far, however, the risk has paid off in a big way for the team.
