Sydney Colson, Fever's starting point guard with Caitlin Clark out, suffers injury. What we know

INDIANAPOLIS — Another injury may have hit the Fever's roster.

Sydney Colson, who has been starting in Caitlin Clark's place, went down with a leg injury in the first quarter of Indiana's game against Connecticut. She got tangled up with Sun guard Jacy Sheldon near the Fever bench while going for a loose ball, and Sheldon landed on her leg.

Colson stayed down as the Sun got possession and went in for a 5-on-4 layup, and Fever coach Stephanie White immediately called timeout. Colson was slow to get up, hunching over by the Fever bench, but stayed on the court as Indiana went over the game plan.

She then walked gingerly, but without assistance, back to the locker room.

Colson's injury could leave the Fever without any true point guards on the roster — Clark, the Fever's usual starter at point, is already out until at least June 9 with a left quadriceps injury. The Fever have other guards, like Sophie Cunningham or Kelsey Mitchell, who can fill in the gaps at point, but they're not usually primary ball-handlers.
