Tennessee Titans vs. Houston Texans: Week 4 staff picks and predictions
The Tennessee Titans (0-3) will take on the Houston Texans (0-3) this Sunday afternoon at NRG Stadium in their fourth game of the 2025 regular season.
Opening the week, the Titans were listed as 7-point road underdogs, and that's where the spread remains as of this writing.
How does the Titans Wire staff see this Week 4 battle shaking out? Here's a look at our picks and score predictions.
Mark Mihalko: Texans 13, Titans 6
In what becomes a defensive struggle between two teams with struggling offensive lines, the game remains close heading into the fourth quarter. That's when Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud steps up and makes a play that puts the Texans up for good and sends the Titans to 0-4.
Serena Burks: Texans 24, Titans 20
This Titans team is not performing anywhere close to how anyone expected this year. On paper, the roster is improved. But in real life? They can't win a game. Their problems do not lie with the players, though, but with the coaching staff. Brian Callahan giving up play-calling duties doesn't instill much trust in his capabilities, and that it went to the QB coach instead of the OC feels weird. The Texans are on the struggle bus, too. Both teams have offensive lines that need work. C.J. Stroud has been sacked eight times, so maybe a Titans' edge rusher can nab a sack this week. Neither of these teams is good right now, and for both teams, it has a lot to do with coaching. The Titans are on the road, and while I believe the Titans can win this game, I don't think they do it in Bo Hardegree's first game calling plays.
Dan Benton: Titans 17, Texans 13
It's not going to be a pretty game, but it will be emotionally-charged as it often is. These games mean more to Amy Adams Strunk than any others, and she makes sure the players know it beforehand. That added motivation, coupled with a change at play-caller, will be enough to propel the Titans to a close, lower-scoring victory, their first of the season. Call me an optimist.
Bryan Manning: Texans 24, Titans 20
In the first two games, the Titans hung tough until late in the game against two superior teams, leaving hope that they could give the Colts their first loss last week. It didn’t happen. The Colts dominated that on both sides of the ball, and Cam Ward struggled. Now, they face another division rival that is struggling. Make no mistake, the Texans are the more talented team, so you think they eventually will get it right. These two teams do not like each other, so I think it’s another close one, but Houston wins.
Tyler Henry: Titans 20, Texans 16
In the battle between two teams searching for their first win of the season, I expect a close game, as divisional games usually are. Both teams have had a tough schedule to start the season. I think the Titans will be able to hold the Texans' offense enough to win by a slight edge. The Texans have the worst points per game average in the league, and I see the Titans finding a way to win on Sunday.
Joel Titus: Texans 17, Titans 16
I am expecting a tight, low-scoring game. I’m expecting a big game from Jeffery Simmons. I see him getting home on Stroud twice. He’s been playing at an All-Pro level this year, and I’m expecting him to have a productive day with the Texans' offensive line. Will Anderson, I expect to do the same without JC Latham on the field. Anderson has been elite this season with the pressure he has generated. Titans should be trying to chip Anderson frequently.
I see Titans starting well but letting Stroud have a strong fourth and leading the Texans to a comeback victory. Nico Collins, I expect to have a strong game with a touchdown and 75-plus receiving yards. Tony Pollard, I expect to be the offense standout for the Titans. I am predicting that he scores the Titans' only touchdown. I feel this matchup presents the best winning opportunity for the Titans, but they fall just short late.
