Texas A&M finding its identity behind Rashaun Agee’s impact

Texas A&M head coach Bucky McMillan has spent the early part of the season getting his roster fully acclimated to the pace, toughness, and precision required to play “Bucky Ball.” Two of his non‑negotiables have been effort and consistency — and the one player who has delivered both since day one is senior forward Rashaun Agee.

The Aggies remain an undersized team on paper, and even the players with length are still adjusting to the demands of McMillan’s system. But the one “big” he’s been able to trust every night has been Agee.

His value goes far beyond his physical presence. He’s become the emotional anchor and on‑court leader for a roster built on newcomers, transfers, and rapid development. His experience shows up in the details — smart rotations, timely reads, and a brand of physicality that changes games.

Oklahoma head coach Porter Moser saw it firsthand.

"Agee was the difference in the game. His physicality. He drew seven fouls going to the glass."

That came following one of Agee's most complete performances of the season: 16 points, 12 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 steals, and 2 assists — plus the game‑sealing bucket that put the Sooners away. It marked his seventh double‑double of the year, a testament to how central he has become to A&M’s early surge in SEC play. If the Aggies continue trending upward, his production and leadership will be a major reason they stay in the NCAA Tournament conversation.

Texas A&M now turns its attention to a tough road test, traveling to Knoxville to face the Tennessee Volunteers at Food City Center on Tuesday, January 13 at 6 p.m. CT. The matchup will air on the SEC Network.
