Texas A&M HC Michael Earley, players speak after series win over Texas

Texas A&M delivered its biggest statement of the 2025 season, taking down No. 2 Texas to secure the Lone Star Showdown Trophy on the diamond. After Friday’s nail‑biter, the Aggies removed all doubt on Saturday, exploding for eight first‑inning runs and never letting the Longhorns breathe.

The offensive onslaught set the tone, but the pitching staff matched it with one of its most composed weekends of the year. A&M allowed just four home runs across the series, three of them solo shots, and repeatedly shut down Texas rallies to seal a marquee SEC‑play victory.

"They're a really good team and we're a good team and I think we just we got out ahead of them, awesome at bats and just phenomenal job on the mound by both those guys like they did their job right and we did our job on the batter's box, and played relatively clean defense minus one, but we did a really good job by our guys today. Credit to them." - Coach Michael Earley

At this point, the Aggies’ offense is beyond legitimate. Twenty runs against one of the nation’s best pitching staffs underscores just how relentless this group has become. One through nine, there are no soft spots, no easy outs, and no let‑up in approach.

" I've said it before um one through nine is just full of relentless abs you know. Everybody's trying to get the next guy up." - Caden Sorrell

The rotation has been the biggest question mark entering each weekend, fluctuating between dominant stretches and early exits. But this series, the staff settled in, attacked the zone, and delivered when it mattered most. Right‑hander Gavin Lyons, who turned in one of his best outings of the season, continues to navigate multiple injuries on the mound.

"I would definitely say that was my best one so far. Just a whole lot of strikes. Getting ahead in counts and get a lot of people out." - Gavin Lyons

Below is the full postgame press conference following Texas A&M’s series‑clinching win over Texas.
