Coop had long been considered the top free agent wide receiver on the market and yet the 31-year-old five-time Pro Bowler remained unsigned throughout training camp.
The news of Coop's signing comes shortly after reports surfaced of Jakobi Meyers requesting a trade.
Outside of Meyers, the Raiders receiving corps is largely unproven. They had fourth round rookie Dont'e Thornton working with the first team all offseason, which is not ideal. It always felt like the Raiders would be adding a veteran receiver capable to starting right away and Cooper becomes that receiver.
The former Alabama product was originally the Raiders pick at fourth overall in the 2015 NFL Draft. He went on to make two Pro Bowls for the Raiders.
Midway through his fourth season, he was traded to Dallas for a first round pick. He would play well enough over the final nine games of that season to make his third Pro Bowl and make another Pro Bowl the following season.
After four seasons in Dallas, he was traded to the Browns for a third round pick. And he would make another Pro bowl in his second season there in 2023.
Then last year, he was traded to the Bills where he spent the final eight games of the season and wasn't brought back.
