The Detroit Tigers took Game 1 against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday and are now preparing for a double header against manager Don Kelly's team on Thursday at Comerica Park.

The two-game set was billed as a chance for MLB fans of both teams and beyond to see what would have been arguably the best pitching matchup on the young season so far between Tigers ace Tarik Skubal and Pirates ace Paul Skenes.

On Wednesday, a Detroit area reporter took to his X account to update fans on Thursday's pitching matchups, and it appears as though fans will not get to see the dream matchup they were hoping for after all.

"The pitching plan for Thursday's Tigers doubleheader with the Pirates will NOT include a Tarik Skubal/ Paul Skenes head-to-head matchup," Channel 7 Detroit reporter Brad Galli wrote on Wednesday.

The matchups will include Andrew Heaney vs. Skubal in Game 1 and Paul Skenes versus a pitcher to be determined the following game.

Fans were not happy about missing out on the prospective must-see TV matchup.

"BOOO!!! Clearly even God wanted to see Skubal vs. Skenes," one fan said

"So the Tigers are basically conceding Game 2. A 1-0 loss incoming," another fan said

"I'm putting my money on TBD for the sweep!" another said in jest.

"Move Skubal. Come on Tigers," another fan said.

"Booooo," another fan added.
