Todd McShay cryptically links Rams to Arch Manning as a 'situation to monitor'
Colin Cowherd shared a wild rumor on his show Wednesday, discussing the possibility of the Cleveland Browns making a play for not only Arch Manning in the draft, but also Nick Saban as their next head coach.
Whether that rumor has any merit is unclear, but one notable draft expert piggybacked off Cowherd’s comments by linking the Los Angeles Rams to Manning.
Former ESPN analyst Todd McShay posted on X that the Browns aren’t the “only situation to monitor” with Manning. He cryptically mentioned another team with two first-round picks next year “whose GM’s son is a close friend to Arch at Texas.”
McShay added that the team’s head coach “has a pretty good history with QBs,” too.
That team, of course, is the Rams. They’re the only other team with two first-rounders next year and Les Snead’s son plays for Texas; apparently, he’s close friends with Manning, according to McShay.
Not refuting this as a “worst-kept secret”. But it’s not the only situation to monitor… There’s another team with two first round picks in ‘26 whose GM’s son is a close friend to Arch at Texas. And the HC has a pretty good history with QBs. Just sayin… https://t.co/Q8dU0a2CuO— Todd McShay (@McShay13) July 23, 2025
McShay, now at The Ringer, isn't a reporter but he is pretty tied into the draft community as one of the most prominent analysts in the business. So, his comments do carry a little bit of weight.
That being said, there's no guarantee Manning will even declare for the draft next year and if he does, the Rams will probably need to make a big move up the board to get to No. 1 overall. They can use the pick they acquired from the Falcons to make that happen, but that's only if the team that holds the first overall pick is willing to trade it.
All told, there's a long way to go until the 2026 draft.
