UFC Seattle video: Alexa Grasso destroys Maycee Barber for first-round knockout
Alexa Grasso is back.
The former UFC flyweight champion had her back against the wall after leaving the octagon without a victory in her latest three trips to the cage, but she returned in incredible fashion against Maycee Barber in the co-main event of UFC Seattle on Saturday night.
In a rematch nearly five years in the making — the last time Barber lost before going on a seven-fight winning streak —, Grasso scored one of the most spectacular victories of her career.
The Mexican star opened up with leg kicks and when her hands started flowing, she flattened Barber with a superb straight left hand. Barber went down out cold, but Grasso still found time to secure a lightning-fast rear-naked choke before the referee came for rescue.
“Thank you so much everyone that’s here, I hope you enjoyed the fight,” Grasso said after the victory. “Thank you for the love. I’m back. Alexa without injuries is a different Alexa and I’m so happy.”
“Of course my striking is always the first weapon,” she added. “But I was training so hard to get a finish by submission because I train jiu-jitsu a lot, so I wanted to finish.”

Grasso did not call out a specific opponent in the cage, but asked the UFC to book another Noche UFC event in Guadalajara, Mexico.
“I know it’s again to climb the mountain, and I’m here to do everything the UFC says,” Grasso said. “But I would truly love to bring UFC to Guadalajara. Noche UFC to my city. That’s my biggest dream, please, please.”
