Vikings quarterbacks beaten up but working heading into the Bye Week

The Minnesota Vikings quarterback situation has been discussed in various ways on this site, dating back to May when ideas for the position began to be jotted down.

What ended up happening was that Aaron Rodgers, who many thought could be a Viking, ended up in Pittsburgh with the Steelers and is winning. Daniel Jones is in Indianapolis with the Colts and has them as the top team in the AFC. And Sam Darnold looked like an MVP candidate on Sunday against the Bucs. Meanwhile, the Vikings are dealing with the injuries that are now piling up with those they stuck with and signed in J.J. McCarthy and Carson Wentz.

No team has needed a Bye Week this season the way the Vikings do, specifically for their quarterbacks.

ESPN's Kevin Seifert noted that the two passers are recovering from injuries sustained during the long European trip. While McCarthy went overseas with an ankle injury, Wentz hurt his shoulder in Week 5 in an attempt to pick up a first down.

He shared that Kevin O'Connell said that Wentz is "pretty sore" and added, "That will be something that we'll be taking a look at throughout the week." He also gave hope to fans with the return of J.J. McCarthy. The reigning NFL Coach of the Year told the media that he is likely to see a ramp-up in his practice reps during the Bye Week.

The offense has shown what it can do with a healthy quarterback under center. The question is, who will it be when they face the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, in Week 7?
