Warriors' Stephen Curry provides health update after Lakers loss
Stephen Curry has missed the last 10 straight games for the Golden State Warriors. The veteran sharpshooter is dealing with a knee issue. He is scheduled for re-evaluation on Sunday, March 1. Golden State has gone 4-6 with Curry on the sidelines.
However, when speaking with ESPN's Malika Andrews following the Warriors' 129-101 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, Curry admitted that he expects to be out a little while longer, noting that his current issue is "unpredictable."
"This is a weird one," Curry said. "It's kind of unpredictable how to heal. But every day since All-Star week has been progress. That's all I can ask for, and I hope that I'm back out soon...It's going to be a little longer, but like I said, right now with this one, it's just about can each day, can you stack good days? And I've done that. So hopefully they can unleash me on the court soon. And like I said, get back out there sooner than later...I haven't gotten on the court yet, but just trying to stay in shape, strengthen everything else around my body, knowing that at this stage, once you get back, it's kind of full speed. sprint to the playoffs. So once I get back on the court, it is a little bit of a pain tolerance thing, but it's just something that you don't want to have lingering because it can get worse."
Curry has only played in 39 games for the Warriors this season. When he's healthy and on the court, he's still one of the best guards in the NBA. In those 39 outings, he's averaging 27.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists and shooting 46.8% from the field and 39.1% from deep.
The Warriors will need Curry healthy and at his best once the playoffs roll around. Therefore, it's logical that they take a cautious approach to getting him back on the court. However, the fanbase will undoubtedly hope to see him in the rotation before the end of March, if for no other reason than to allow him time to ramp back up.
