Ronald Koeman, speaking on Goedmorgan Eredivisie, was full of praise for West Ham United’s winger Cyrsencio Summerville. Despite the Hammers struggles in the Premier League this season, Koeman stated that Summerville is certainly in the picture to make the Netherlands squad for the upcoming World Cup. As reported by ESPN, Koeman said of the West Ham player ‘Of course, he’s a player we’re considering. The competition is a bit less in attack, and he’s a player who plays in the Premier League, is important at West Ham, and can play on both the right and left wing. That’s what we’re looking at. He’s very clever in his play and in moments of possession. He also has a high level of efficiency and is used to playing at full intensity, both forward and back’.

Summerville came through the youth academy at Feyenoord, making his senior debut during a loan spell with Dordrecht during the 2018/2019 season. He never made a senior appearance for Feyenoord, having also spent time on loan at ADO Den Haag before leaving to join Leeds United in 2021. Summerville had his breakout season during the 2023/2024 campaign with the Yorkshire side. During that season in the Championship he played 49 games across all competitions, scoring 21 goals and grabbing 10 assists.

This form earned him a move to West Ham. During his first season, Summerville was unable to replicate the form he had shown in the Championship. In 22 games for West Ham he scored just once and provided two assists. This season, despite West Ham struggling in the Premier League, Summerville has begun to play much better. In 26 games so far he has scored seven goals and grabbed two assists.

Playing in the Premier League for West Ham certainly appears to be helping his case to earn a first cap for the Dutch national team and make a surprising appearance at the upcoming World Cup.
