Where LSU football's recruiting class ranks in SEC after Tyler Atkinson commits to Texas

A massive recruiting domino fell on Tuesday with five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson committing to Texas. With Atkinson's commitment, only four five-stars remain on the board, according to the Rivals' Industry Rankings.

But Atkinson's pledge wasn't enough to push Texas past LSU. Per Rivals, Brian Kelly's 2026 class ranks No. 4 in the SEC and No. 7 nationally. Texas ranks No. 5 in the SEC and No. 9 nationally. Atkinson became the third five-star to commit to Texas, which ranks second nationally. Alabama has the most five-stars with four in the fold.

LSU may not have the volume of a top-ranked class yet, but the Tigers rank No. 2 nationally with an average recruit rating of 91.79. Only Oregon has a better mark at 92.20. LSU has the pieces to make a run at a recruiting title.
