Bengals rookie spotlights in new-look offensive line at OTAs
The Cincinnati Bengals rolled out a new-look offensive line at OTAs on Tuesday.
There, rookie Dylan Fairchild had the starting spot at left guard next to center Ted Karras. Free-agent signee Lucas Patrick was the starter at right guard on the other side, with the expected lineup of Amarius Mins at right tackle and Orlando Brown Jr. at left tackle, according to Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer.
It's a mild surprise to already see Fairchild out there as a starter, given the presence of Cordell Volson and Cody Ford still on the roster and capable of fighting for a starting job.

That said, the Bengals did re-work Volson's contract in such a way that suggested he would serve as a backup, if not get cut. And if the team wants Fairchild to be the starter as a rookie, now is the perfect launching pad to help him get comfortable.
The Bengals could easily flip the starters over the course of OTAs and almost assuredly will let everyone get some run during training camp. But the fact the rookie Fairchild was the first guy out there for these sessions feels important.
