Colts - Steelers Michael Pittman trade official: Full trade details
The trade between the Indianapolis Colts and the Pittsburgh Steelers for wide receiver Michael Pittman is now official.
The Colts sent Pittman and a 2026 seventh-round pick (230th overall) to Pittsburgh in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick (214th overall).
It's a small return for the Colts, given the caliber of player that Pittman has been, but this deal was essentially a salary cap dump on Indianapolis' part.
Pittman was set to have a massive $29 million salary cap hit for the 2026 season. For some context, that would have been the seventh-largest salary cap hit of any receiver in football.
His production -- 773 receiving yards in 2025 -- and cap hit did not align.

But by trading Pittman, the Colts created $24 million in salary cap space for the 2026 season, which came in handy after re-signing Daniel Jones and Alec Pierce.
Had the Colts not found a trade partner, Pittman very well could have been released anyway in favor of those cap savings. This solution at least got the Colts something in return.
